The plot begins with the fact that the main character of the game Ayumi comes to the antiquities store and activates a certain artifact, which turns out to be a card. Following it, she finds an ancient temple in which a divine relic is stored. As soon as the girl touches her find, a curse is imposed on her, and now Ayumi has to find a way to remove it.
X-Blades is a slasher with all the mechanics familiar to the genre. To defeat the monsters, the player is given two weapons: swords for close combat and pistols for long-range attacks. In the pause menu, a bestiary with descriptions of monsters and tactics for their destruction is available.
The game also has about 25 magic spells that are bought for in-game currency. Ammunition fragments and artifacts are scattered around the locations, collecting which you can improve the heroine's special techniques and weapons. After passing several locations, the player is waiting for the battle with the boss. Each requires a special approach, tactics and a set of spells.
