After the release of the game, the studio began releasing updates. The first one fixed most of the bugs in the code, thanks to which the stability improved and the game stopped requiring a large amount of resources. Then another patch was released, fixing the shortcomings, which turned out to be the last (support was discontinued in 2010). The last thing the GSC team did was fix a server issue in 2014 as GameSpy shut down the servers. But to date, various modifications are being produced to diversify the gameplay in any way. Graphics may improve, gameplay may change, or a new story may be added. It all depends on the mods added to the game.
The background of S.T.A.L.K.E.R .: Call Of Pripyat tells how the Ukrainian authorities decided to take control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Military forces were sent to the exclusion zone, but all 5 helicopters were destroyed. However, the main character, Major Alexander Degtyarev, survives and goes in search of the remaining companions.
Further, the protagonist learns that there is a "canned" way "Pripyat-1", which was used to deliver "Product No. 62". Having assembled a detachment of several people with different life histories, Degtyarev is going to go there. And the player will accompany him on this dangerous path, fighting mutants and exploring the corners of Chernobyl.
