Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time review

Jack travels through time, seeking a way out of the trap set by the sorcerer Aku, defeating his enemies and meeting new and old friends. To get acquainted with the project, it is not necessary to know the source, since the game tells an independent and complete story. Fans will meet many familiar faces and visit famous landmarks.

The gameplay is standard for the genre. The hero explores linear locations, fights against opponents, overcoming ingenious traps. Most of the time the camera is in third person view, but sometimes it switches to the old-fashioned side view.

Destroying enemies and destroying various objects, the player gains energy. It is spent on purchasing new skills and leveling the character. Points are distributed in three branches: physical, combat and spiritual. Each of them contains passive amplifiers and new combinations.

There are five types of melee weapons: katana, fists, bamboo spear, scythe, and mace. All weapons, except the sword, have a safety margin, after which it breaks. Each instance deals additional damage to certain types of opponents. There is also an arsenal for ranged combat: bows, throwing daggers, shurikens, and even a pistol and machine gun.

The graphic style of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is recognizable and fully consistent with the source. Locations are original and colorful. Moving in time, the style also changes. Being in the past, the picture acquires a partial two-dimensionality, when in the future all objects are displayed in full 3D. Each dimension has its own unique rivals and bosses. Screenshots
