Unpacking review

The main plot in Unpacking is built around the move of the main character. The story develops gradually and reveals more and more details. From the room and things, the player can guess what the main character is experiencing, and what period of her life is now going on. The plot begins in 1997 with a small children's room, and ends in 2018 in a large house. The game has only 8 levels. With each new level, the number of items and details increases.

The whole gameplay consists of unpacking and arranging things. The game does not have points or a timer. The idea of the developers was to create a game that can relax. The gameplay is not limited to arranging things in only one room. The player will be rewarded only with achievements for a certain order of things. There are different rooms to choose from, and even a whole house.

During the game, quiet, pleasant music plays in the background. The author of musical compositions is the BAFTA award winner, the notorious Jeff van Dyck. Compositions will vary depending on the room. The graphics are made in pixel style. Particular attention is paid to detail. Despite the pixel art, each item is made accurately and can be interacted with. A convenient photo mode is also available to the player.

The main distinguishing feature of the game is the lack of competition factor. The player is on his own. Performing simple actions, a person relaxes, and slow instrumental music contributes to immersion in the gameplay and the atmosphere of the game. It stands out from the competition with an innovative genre, since the number of meditation simulators is extremely small. Screenshots
