Death Stranding review

The global challenge is to connect all the shelters to the global network and thereby restore the country. The project can be briefly described as a walking simulator. The whole gameplay is reduced to the delivery of cargo from point A to point B. The route runs over rough terrain, and the path must be found on your own.

Hideo Kojima was able to introduce new mechanics into a simple and understandable movement process. The load is attached to the backpack, shoulder straps and other options. The height on the stacks on the back disturbs balance, and weight reduces endurance. There are auxiliary items like exoskeleton and cargo platforms following the character, but they consume energy. Some boxes cannot be fastened sideways, others are so fragile and valuable that they can only be carried by hand. You can stumble, slip and fall against any stone, and any blow to the load causes damage and can break it.

Death Stranding was not without opponents, in some territories there are cultists hunting for packages. To fight them, only non-lethal weapons are issued, since you cannot kill. The situation is more interesting with dead souls, they live in rainy areas. They can be detected only by freezing in place or by scanning the area. You have to deal with them with the secretions of the protagonist. He is a special person and his body influences otherworldly forces. Therefore, during rest, all his waste products are collected and turned into special pomegranates.
