Spirit of the North review

The game begins with a colorful cutscene that showcases all the beauty of snow-covered Iceland. The main character sees a red stream in the sky and, out of curiosity, decides to find out where it will lead him.

The uniqueness of Spirit of the North is that the narrative is conducted without a single dialogue, and the lore is presented using wall images. The images are activated using special magic that the fox will find while exploring the world. Almost at the very beginning of the adventure, the hero will meet a fox spirit, which will accompany him and show the right path. As the game progresses, the spirit will give the fox abilities that will allow him to solve new puzzles and move on through the story. The puzzles themselves are not something difficult and confusing and are passed through simple platforming.

Spirit of the North is a small game that takes about 4-5 hours to complete, but the passage itself is spiritual and meditative. The game has very beautiful music, and the locations are changing from snow-capped mountain ranges to green flowering meadows.

The fox himself behaves very lively and realistically. Coming out of the water, he shakes himself off and sneezes, and after a long inactivity he lies down, curled up in a ball, and rests. The appearance of the fox can be changed: for this you need to look for dead monks and bring them staves, which are usually located somewhere nearby. Having received the staff, the monk's soul will be freed and, in addition to the image, will open the way to further adventure. The ending of the game is only one and without any explanation, but it will undoubtedly make you reflect on what you see. Screenshots
