The survival horror genre is hard to imagine without a series like Penumbra. In 2008, the sequel to the first part of the game, entitled Penumbra: Black Plague, was released. A protagonist wakes up locked in a room after a stranger attacks him. Having got out of the confinement, he discovers that he has got to a complete zombie arctic station.

Penumbra: Black Plague review

But this is not so bad - the hero is haunted by hallucinations that resemble a bad trip. Images and voices begin to drive the hero crazy. It's all about the virus, which turned the rest into walking corpses. The first priority is to find the vaccine and save yourself.
First-person view enhances the feeling of what is happening. The horror experienced by meeting with the monsters is further aggravated by the fact that they cannot be killed. There is no combat system in the game - you can only distract the enemy in order to gain time and hide somewhere. You have to run a lot, solve puzzles, find keys and notes with ciphers.
The game is quite short, but full of impressions. In about five hours of gameplay, so much horror is concentrated that it would last for two dozen hours. It is recommended to play strictly at night, using headphones: without this, feelings of hopelessness, fear and loneliness at the station lost in the ice will be incomplete. Screenshots
