The protagonist, as in the original, remains Jill Valentine, a member of the S.T.A.R.S. special squad, the Raccoon City police. The remake differs from the original in rich graphics, a variety of weapons, an abundance of zombies on the streets, and includes hand-to-hand combat. Finding shelter requires constant interaction with the map, and making ammunition requires more resources than a car and gunpowder. The likelihood of contracting the virus is much higher, so this also needs constant monitoring. Nemesis has become much more dangerous, and will pursue Jill everywhere. Many additional missions and antagonists have been added, there is interaction with other characters, and colorful demo videos give an unsurpassed atmosphere.

The storyline remains the same, except for an additional set of missions. Locations have been improved and supplemented. Calmly wandering around the city will no longer work, because there are full of dead people and the probability of infection with the T virus is growing exponentially.

The game begins with Jill escaping from an apartment building. Further, in the course of the game, she moves to her place of work - a police station, in constant search of the necessary components for passing locations, weapons and first aid kits, and meets a pilot named Brad Vickers, who goes his own way.

Near the police station itself, Jill meets with Brad again, and here Nemesis appears and kills him. Next, Jill enters the area, where he finds weapons and related items to complete tasks. As the game progresses, Jill meets several other characters - Carlos Oliver and two soldiers from U.B.C.S. They move to the evacuation point on a city tram. At this time, one soldier dies, and the second disappears under mysterious circumstances.

After meeting in the chapel, Jill and Carlos again encounter Nemesis, who blows up the helicopter and seriously injures Jill in the fight. Further, the gameplay takes place for Carlos, who goes to the hospital for an antidote for Jill, where he meets a soldier who disappeared from the tram. The former partner turns out to be an Umbrella agent who was collecting information about biological weapons.

In the hospital, there is one wounded U.B.C.S. soldier who blows himself up and the agent with a grenade, but the agent remains alive. The agent mines the hospital in the hope of killing Carlos, but he unhindered returns to Jill. Next, Jill is looking for a way out of the city, making his way through the city park, where he also meets with an agent who confesses everything to her and tries to kill her, but she survives. Having reached the abandoned Umbrella laboratory, Jill again meets Carlos, who tells her about the city's impending nuclear explosion. Nikolai also appears, and then Nemesis, who is killed by Jill. At the end of the game, Jill flies away with Carlos a minute before the explosion. Screenshots
