Total War: Warhammer 2 review
As in the previous part, each race or faction has its own game mechanics. What's new is that you can now occupy all provinces regardless of faction. For this purpose, a new climatic zone mechanic has been implemented, which gives races advantages and disadvantages when populating different types of terrain. To complete the game, players can choose one of the presented races: High or Dark Elves, Vampires, Skaven, Tomb Lords and Lizardmen.
The goal of the game is to take control of the Great Vortex. It can be controlled by special rituals that are bought for points. When the rite begins, the faction connects the three main cities with the artifact, and must defend against the armies of Chaos for several rounds. You can also interrupt the rituals of enemy factions by capturing their ritual sites and the most important cities. To do this, the player can also recruit controlled AIs to direct them against the enemy. As a last resort, as soon as the faction gets ahead of you in completing all the rituals, you can teleport the army into the final battle to prevent its victory.
The game has several options for the development of the ending, the outcome depends on the actions and decisions of the player taken throughout the passage. If the High Elves win, the Vortex will calm down. If the Lizardmen win, the artifact will stabilize and be covered by the geomantic web. A Skaven victory will summon the Horned Rat. If the Dark Elves win, their leader will conquer the power of the Vortex and become a god.
